# Our Story

#### The Origin: Closing the Data & AI Gap

Data & AI changed faster than most companies could adapt. We built Astrafy to close that gap.

Back in 2022, four ex-colleagues—Charles, Andrea, Kevin, and Kamil—took a leap to build something different. Our shared ambition was clear: we saw that while companies were eager to innovate, they were consistently missing the fundamental building blocks of reliable data infrastructure.

We started our journey with a laser focus on core data engineering. However, as the technological landscape shifted and the Generative AI wave emerged, our mission rapidly evolved. We realized that to help companies survive and thrive, they needed more than just data pipelines. Today, we engineer the modern, scalable foundations that empower organizations to fully leverage artificial intelligence, turning complex tech challenges into their biggest competitive advantage.

#### The Astrafy DNA

We are not just another vendor or a traditional staffing agency. We act as a seamless extension of your Data & AI department, bringing engineering rigor to everything we do. Our approach is defined by:

* **Open-Source & Generosity**: We believe in giving back. We open-source our knowledge, code, and handbooks to empower the broader tech community and maintain total transparency with our clients.

#### Our Timeline: From startup spark to scaling impact

* **2022 - The beginning of our journey** \
  Four ex-colleagues joined forces, laying the early groundwork for Astrafy with a pure focus on data engineering.
* **2023 -** **Our first employees** \
  We expanded our core capabilities, welcoming our first hires and growing the team from 4 to 10 talented individuals.
* **2024 -** **Opening of our Madrid entity** \
  A year of strategic expansion. We opened our new entity in Spain and grew the team to 12, bringing on our Chief Revenue Officer as our first dedicated back-office role to spearhead new projects.
* **2025 - Building the foundations** \
  Scaling up to 20 experts, we solidified our operational structure by establishing four distinct technical departments equipped to handle the full spectrum of modern Data and Gen AI demands.
* **2026 -** **Startup to scale-up** \
  Accelerated growth brought us to 35 team members in just the first semester. With a new office on the horizon and a trajectory to hit 50 employees by year-end, our scale-up era has officially begun.

#### Our Hubs

* Geneva (Headquarters): We established our roots in Switzerland intentionally. Geneva provides access to an elite talent pool, a strategic central location in Europe, and close proximity to major tech hubs, including the Google engineering office.
* Madrid: Launched in 2024, our Spanish hub allows us to tap into an incredible ecosystem of engineering talent and serves as a vital base to support our rapidly expanding European footprint.
